This forum exists to exchange ideas and occurences of synchronicity. It may be an individual-based phenomenon, understandable and of value only to the one who experiences occurrences of coinciding unrelated events. It may also be a connecting form of guidance to all who perceive it. As we share experiences of synchronicity, maybe we can begin to detect some sort of interconnecting pattern.

I urge you to relate and share your thoughts about this, for this may be the ultimate treasure hunt!

Thanks....

Reference my last post concerning a customer from Armonk, NY. On page 6 of his book "An Unlikely Prophet" the monk says he rode a bike from NY to visit the author Alvin Schwartz. Alvin muses "I had a vision of him laboriously pedaling his way amid the coursing traffic on the Taconic State Parkway,"......etc. On a hunch I went to Google Maps and put in Armonk, NY, and the map had the Taconic State Parkway prominently displayed. Armonk is coincidentally in the same exact area Alvin Schwartz lived, near the NY and Connecticut border.

I did not read the above mentioned passage in the book prior to my last post. It is an understatement to say this has tweaked my interest, and I am now reading "An Unlikely Prophet".

I showed this to my co-workers, who considered the whole situation "spooky". The unexplainable sharpens awareness and sets gears to turning that weren't consciously turning before. This is the mystery and compelling interest of synchronicity.

Alvin Schwartz, a legendary writer of Superman and Batman comics, has written a novel called "An Unlikely Prophet". The back cover states in part: "Alvin Schwartz's story is a personal journey through a lifelong remembrance of synchrony, inspiration, accident, and magic." (my italics)

Coincidentally, I have just written up a phone order for a Mr. Schwartz in Armonk, NY, who works in New York City. Much of Alvin Schwartz' book involves a journey he embarked upon via the contact of a Tibetan monk called Thongden. (my italics).

Wikipedia has an excellent definition of Synchronicity, a term coined by Carl Jung. Synchronistic events trigger a sense of greater awareness, a connecting to a the collective unconscious as postulated by Jung.

If we post our sychronistic occurences for each other to read about, maybe we can begin to see where this all leads. I, for one, am not satisfied with where our leaders are taking us, are you??

"What reasons are there for accepting synchronicity as an explanation for anything in the real world? (My italics). What it explains is more simply and elegantly explained by the ability of the human mind to find meaning and significance where there is none (apophenia)." - Robert Todd Carroll from The Skeptics Dictionary.

By real I expect Mr. Carroll suggests definable or measurable by scientific method. If it can't be measured it doesn't exist, right Mr. Carroll? I looked up the word "apophenia" and found no entries in two online dictionaries. Is it even a real word? I think it is very appropriate that the web address for the Skeptics Dictionary is "SkepDic.com". I couldn't have put it better myself.

A customer called, had not received her item. Last name was Khong. The order was filed alphabetically next to an order for a Mr. King. Both orders had been placed within a three day period, awaiting permanent filing.
